The women’s Riverside Cup is nearing the end of its interclub round robin and last Friday Masterton had an excellent 6-0 victory against Featherston. Winners were Shirley Saunders, Anne Smith, Lorraine Stewart, Ann Kenny, Janice Hayes and Isobelle Weaver. The team is now 5½ points in front but have a bye in the next round this Friday at Masterton and then play Carterton in the final round.
Wellington Golf has decided that the Tilson Salver playoff between Featherston and Masterton will be played at Mahunga on 19 July.
The bronze Matai interclub team, competing in post section play, had four wins against Royal Wellington to come third in the competition.
On Tuesday the ladies had a ‘midwinter fun day’ that involved both 18 and 9 holers. The teams of three were allowed to take 3 clubs each and had to count all their putts. The winning team was Trish Newcombe, Jane Buchanan and Jill Murphy.
The postponed Greensome Foursomes will now be played on 10 July and all players need to re-enter with your partner.
On Monday the vets got a fine, but windy day for the monthly ambrose competition. Results were-

On Wednesday the 9 holers ‘got’ a dreadful day and the six players who braved the weather had a casual ambrose round.
Top placing in the Thursday New World Supermarket stableford competition seems to be shared among the same group recently with Mike Falloon winning again last week with 40 points. Second, also on 40 were Danny Clarkson and Ian Buchanan with Jeff Ogg and Murray Wolland on 39.
The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin went to Ian Buchanan.
The Saturday club competition saw the men play a nett plus putts round. Results were-

The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin on No 8 went to Mike Falloon and on No 18 to Rob Blackett.
The Poste Haste Members Draw, which is available to all members who are in the 19th at 5pm was not won and will be $180 next week.
This Saturday the men’s club day is another stroke round for the Challenge Shield and Chairman’s Trophy and the women will play a par round and a Moore Stephens Markham Shootout qualifier.
