It was a case of third time lucky when the club held the PGG Wrightson Women’s Greensome Foursomes last Friday. After being postponed twice previously a good field of 52 women from five clubs, Feilding, Martinborough, Eketahuna, Pahiatua and Masterton, started in bright sunshine but had several showers of rain. Greensome Foursomes is a popular form of foursomes where both players tee off every hole and then select the best drive and play alternate shots after that. Top prize went to the local combination of Nooroa Rota and Lola Ogg with a combined score of 64 nett. Other results in the stableford were-

After a large number of very wet Tuesdays the ladies got a good day for the Shirley Christiansen Trophy, a combined silver and bronze pairing with drawn partners. The 2015 winners were Sereana Phillipps and Janna Blundell with a combined stableford of 73 points. The New World Nearest the Pin on No 8 was Carolyn Stevenson and the All Teed Up No 18 was Jane Buchanan.
On Saturday the men’s field played a stableford round and a Moore Stephens Markham Shootout qualifier. Results were-

The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin’s on No 8 went to Rob Blackett and No 18 to Steve Hemingway.
The weather last week meant the New World Thursday competition field was very small and only two prizes were ‘available’. Simon Buckley’s 39 points were enough to win from second placed Ian Buchanan. The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was Ewen Macdonald.
After being cancelled twice last week the Monday vets got a gloriously fine day for the monthly ambrose competition. Results were-

The Fagan Ford Nearest the Pin’s went to Liz Waddington and Kelvin Biggs.
This Saturday the men will play a stroke round for the Challenge Shield and Chairman’s Trophy. Currently the best round in these competitions are Kerry Mountcastle’s gross 70 and Sila Fa’aiuaso’s nett 66. The women will have a free day.
Off the Fairway
Tickets are selling well in the club’s fundraising raffle where the top prize is a $2000 travel voucher from Helen Southey House of Travel. A big thank you to the sellers who are outside the House of Travel on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and also in Greytown at the weekends. All Board members also have books for members to purchase.
