The annual Margaret Wallace Day was held on Saturday, Waitangi Day. Over the years this mixed combined stableford event has been staged on various ‘holidays’, Queens Birthday, and Anzac day and now Waitangi day with mixed success. The tournament, supported by life member Margaret Wallace for many years, is open to club members and this year on its new date had disappointing support with 28 players, including eight women entering. As usual there were far more men than women, so there were two separate competitions with a mixed draw for the Margaret Wallace Trophy which was won by Brian and Jocelyn Pollock with a combined score of 79 points. It is obvious that women are an asset to any team as the 3rd place getter in the mixed teams scored better than the winner of the men’s teams!
Women’s Interclub is underway with the 9 holers beginning their competition against Boulcott’s Farm at Pauatahanui on 3 February for a 3/1 victory. Winners were Ruth Wiley, Di Herbert and Val Diedrichs.
On Wednesday the 9 holers had a stroke round which was won by Kate Bunny with 31, followed by Gill Neal on 35 and Rosey Wellbrock on 37.
On Tuesday twenty seven women teed off on a beautiful summer’s day (which became very hot) for an LG and putting competition. Results were-

The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin on No 8 was Liz Armstrong and the New World Nearest the Pin on No 18 went to Brenda Blatchford.
The New World Supermarket men’s Thursday competition was won by Dermot Fitzgerald with 43 points from Paul Fouhy on 41, then Jeff Ogg, Graeme Jones and Richard Searle, all on 40. The All Teed Up Closest to the Pin was won by Alan Sadler.
The TRC Toyota Twilight resumed last week after the previous week being cancelled and with the course in pristine condition Fortyfive golfers turned out in perfect conditions and the scoring reflected the pleasure of being out on the course. Tony Roseingrave again won the men’s division and Jeanette McNae won the women’s competition. The summer conditions were reflected in some huge drives, Alan Williams described his as being his best drive in 20 years and Ann Hart was not that far behind him. Jo Lucas was nearest the pin to win the All Teed Up ball and Brian Pollock won the Lucky Draw Matahiwi Pinot Noir.
There are just five Wednesdays left to enjoy evening golf. So far 83 players have played in the tournament and there is always room for more.
The vets are playing on Wednesday this week because of the ‘Mondayised’ Waitangi Day.
This Saturday is the first chance for men to register a score for the Challenge Shield (best gross round on specific Saturday’s) or Chairman’s Trophy (best nett round on specific Saturday’s) and the first Moore Stephens Markham Shootout qualifier, which this year again requires a minimum of seven rounds with the best five counting.

Please remember that the AGM has been changed from 14 February to Sunday 21 February and the nomination form for a new Board member is up on the foyer noticeboard. All Teed Up will be running a mini tournament after the meeting.
