Masterton Golf Club

Saturday’s Halberg Day, run by the Masterton Eagles, was highly successful with a very large field participating and over $1600 raised for the Halberg Disability Sports Foundation, which supports the sporting aspirations of disabled young people. The overall winners, who get to travel to Paraparaumu Beach for the regional Eagles final, were Nathan Frew (men) and Rachel Monk (women)

The abbreviated results, because, with the very generous sponsorship of this event well over three quarters of the field won a prize, were-

The longest drives were won by Simon Richardson, Mike Newport and Jocelyn Pollock while the closest to the pins went to Nooroa Rota and Kevin Mackay.

 

Last Friday the women’s Cotter Rosebowl, an interclub foursomes event was played at Riversdale and won by the home club with Masterton, 4^th. Masterton was represented by Jo Philps, Janice Hayes, Jocelyn Pollock, Jan Williams, Brenda Blatchford and Larraine Duckett.

On Tuesday the women’s field played a par round and a Moore Stephens Markham shootout qualifier. Results were-

The Fagan Ford Closest to the Pin was won by Derek Clarkson.

 

The Thursday New World Supermarket men’s stableford competition was won by Eketahuna visitor Barry Auckram with 40 points, followed by Peter Cottier and Mike Dixon, both on 39. Fourth equal were Mike Falloon and David Cook, on 38. The All Teed Up Closest to the Pin was won by Tony Rowntree.

 

The Wednesday 9 holers field played a PGG Wrightson putting round which was won by Gill Neal and Barbie Wallace, both on 16 putts with third place going to Julie Mills on 17. The PGG Wrightson Longest Drive went to Di Herbert.

 

This Friday the women are holding the PGG Wrightson Greensome Foursomes with tee off at 10am and on Saturday the 16 men who qualified two weeks ago will play the final of the Maunsell Trophy (par round) and those men who did not qualify or didn’t play two weeks ago will have a separate par round. The women’s field will also play a par round.
