The Saturday men’s field played another round in the Challenge Shield and Chairman’s Trophy with the aim of bettering the best gross round of 65, currently held by Kerry Mountcastle on 13 February, and the best nett round of 60, recorded by Ray Verhaart on 12 March. Unfortunately no one got within a ‘bull’s roar’ of these benchmarks! Results were-.

The All Teed Up Nearest the Pins were Jenni Johnston and Sila Fa’aiuaso and No 18, Jim Kettle, but the big news of the day was Sila Fa’aiuaso getting a sizeable birds nest with his two 2’s.

The Tuesday women’s field played for the Eunice Robieson Trophy, the best nett over 27 holes. The trophy was won by Jo Philps with a nett score of 113 from Jeanette McNae with 114.

The Quilters Lane Nearest the Pin on No 8 went to Lorraine Stewart and the New World No 18 to Nooroa Rota.

The Wednesday 9 holers had only 8 players in very wet conditions for their foursomes round and no results were available.

The Thursday New World stableford competition was won by Jamie Frew. Jamie is one of our keenest juniors and took advantage of the school holidays to join the Thursday competition and ‘clean up’ all his more senior opponents with his second best round ever. His 41 points had him a clear three points in front of second placed Kevin Mackay (another taking advantage of the school holidays) with 38, then Peter Forrester on 37 and fourth place, Ash Peterson on 35. The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was Trevor Smith.
On Saturday all 2017 men’s interclub players are urged to play as the Match Committee is having an interclub information day and, following the 18 holes will give players more details about the 2017 season, grades, likely opponents, and dates of play.
