In a quiet week at the club the biggest field was attracted to the |Monday vet’s stableford competition. Results were-

The Fagan Ford Nearest the Pins were won by Pam Sutherland and Ash Peterson.
The New World Supermarket Thursday stableford field also had a good field and Aaron Lightbridge’s good round of 41 points was enough to win from Derek Clarkson, also on 41. Third was Peter Forrester with 40, followed by Harry Quinn, Simon Dew and Ian Harrowfield, all on 39. The All Teed Up Closest to the Pin was Dennis Hogg.
Saturday saw a reduced field with the interclub players away on the annual golfing weekend. Results in the stableford competition were-

2nd Jack Richmond 36
3rd Derek Clarkson 36
The Closest to the Pin on No 18 went to Simon Smith and the All Teed Up No 8 to Alan Sadler.
Meanwhile the interclub trip was playing Rangatira where John Francis won the ‘haggle’ with 39 points and then, on Sunday, Castlecliff in Wanganui where an excellent round by Ash Peterson saw him win with 40 points.
The Wednesday 9 holers had a Trust House Shootout round which was won by Di Herbert with 40 nett from Val Deidrichs, also on 40. Third was Beet Horrocks on 41.
The PGG Wrightson Longest Drive was Suzie Williams and the All Teed Up Nearest the Pin, Di Herbert.
The Tuesday ladies field abandoned play half way through their weekly competition.
The club programme for this weekend starts on Friday night with the Quiz Night, followed by the Saturday club day which is a mixed Halberg Day, run by the Eagles.
Off The Fairway
The most popular golf club in the pro shop at the present time is a new club from Adams Golf. The shop has already sold seven or eight sets for the everyday golfer and the ‘package’ set is proving very popular. Having seen two of these sets ‘in operation’ over the weekend their owners were very happy with the clubs!
