Masterton Golf Club

Two men’s interclub matches were played over the weekend, the second round of the Wairarapa Marquis Shield, and Div 3’s catch up match against Shandon.

On Sunday, in the Marquis Shield, Masterton played Mahunga on our home course and had a resounding 4-0 win, using the rather strange points system. Singles wins were recorded by Vince Duckett, Harry Quinn, Ray Verhaart, Hira Renata, Dean Gray, Sam Forrester and Kerry Mountcastle. Masterton is now second in the competition, behind Carterton, but both teams have had the advantage of playing on their home course.

Div 3 played the very strong Shandon at Masterton and can be very satisfied with an 8½-6½ win which moves them up to 3rd place in the division. Singles wins went to Simon Buckley, Tony Rowntree, Pim Borren, Murray Wolland and Geoff Masters.
