The major event of the week was undoubtedly the holding of the 44th Trust House Open Christmas Cheer Tournament on Saturday. Played in three divisions with tee off times either in the morning, or after midday, the smaller than usual field enjoyed a fine, but breezy day. As the prize lists in each division went down to 12-13th place the major results were-

Last Wednesday the 9 holers had their own Trust House Turkey Tournament, and welcomed a man to their group with the hope that more men will play in the 9 hole competition next year. Winner was Helen Ordish with 24 points, from Beet Horrocks, also with 24 and Gill Neal with 21. The longest drive went to Helen Ordish and the nearest the pin to Gill Neal.
Idyllic summer conditions saw 33 men and 23 women enjoy the TRC Toyota Twilight on Wednesday evening and afterwards the clubhouse Café and outside tables were packed for dinner making for a fantastic night. Jill Slight with 26pts and Graeme Haugh with 21pts took out the Men’s and Women’s competitions and 14 others received prizes of golf balls, All Teed Up vouchers and the Matahiwi Pinot Noir. Jill Slight’s 26 pts was the best round of the season so far. The TRC Toyota 4-player Teams “Race to 500” is underway and Jeanette McNae, Jo Lucas, Marilyn Beetham and Carol Morgan, calling themselves ‘The Birdie Girls’, have a team which continues to lead the 10 team field. In the individual “Race to 100”, Dominic Stewart leads the men and Jo Lucas leads the women.”
The New World Supermarket competition on Thursday saw Russell Stewart win with a massive 45 points from Steve Hemingway and Michael Batley, both with 42. The All Teed Up Closest to the Pin was won by Steve Hemingway but the ‘star of the show’ was Rob Blackett who won a good birdsnest with his two 2’s.
