The major event over the weekend was the Easter Bunny Tournament on Monday. An excellent field of over 60, including visitors from Pahiatua, Karori and Mahunga, took part in an extremely well organised tournament over 18 holes.
The best gross in each division provided the main winners. Harry Quinn with a gross 80 won the men’s 14+ group, Kerry Mountcastle’s 69 was best in the men’s up to 14 group and an 82 by Nooroa Rota won the women’s division. Other stableford results were-

The men’s Saturday competition was a stroke round, off the blue tees, for the Challenge Shield and Chairman’s Trophy, while the women played a stableford round. The gross 72 by Sam Forrester was the best Challenge Shield round this year and Sila Fa’aiuaso’s nett 66 is now the front runner in the Chairman’s Trophy. Results were-

The Fagan Ford Nearest the Pin’s on No 8 were Liz Bensaude and Alan Sadler.
The 9 holers also played last Wednesday with a Trust House stroke round which was won by Jill Murphy with nett 33 from Beet Horrocks, Geri Southey and Rosey Wellbrock, all with 35. The PGG Wrightson putting was won by Gill Neal with 14 putts. Rosie Wellbrock won the PGG Wrightson Longest Drive. 9 holers are reminded that with daylight saving finishing your cards need to be in by 9am for a 9.30 tee off.
The hot scoring on Thursday’s in the New World stableford competition continues and last week Jeff Thomas won with 41 points from Alan Sadler, also with 41. Third was Derek Clarkson on 40, followed by a host of players on 39.
The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was Brad Chittick and finally a near maximum birdsnest was struck by Paul Fouhy.
This weekend men’s interclub resumes with Div 1 playing Judgeford at Manor Park on Sunday, and Div 3 and Div 6 both playing away matches at Karori and Judgeford respectively. The club day will commence at 12 noon with the women playing a par round- it is not clear what competition the men will play. All the women’s pennants teams play next Monday.
Off The Fairway
As stated above there was an extensive list of ‘fun’ prizes at the Easter Bunny Tournament, some of which were rewards for good play and others which cause a ‘flush’ of embarrassment. However one player found himself on both sides of the ledger! Michael Batley won not only the Nearest the Pin on No 8 with an excellent shot but was presented with the men’s ‘Country Rover’ prize for the longest day (or the highest score). Obviously his other 17 holes weren’t as memorable as No 8!
