Masterton Golf Club

The second to last round of the 9 holers interclub was played last Thursday when Masterton met Karori at Martinborough and had a 2½-1½ win. Singles victories went to Rosie Wellbrock and Beet Horrocks. With the last round next week at Boulcott Farm against Kapiti the 4 women team are ‘middle of the field’.

On Saturday both men and women played a stableford round with the men’s competition doubling as the Grandad’s Trophy which was won by Paul Williams and Ian Buchanan, both with 37 points. Stableford results were-

The Tuesday women played the Captain’s v Secretaries stableford contest with the Secretaries team winning by the narrowest of margins. Other results were-

The Quilters Lane Nearest the Pin on No 8 was Shura Lindsey and No 18, Janna Blundell.

The New World Supermarket stableford competition attracted a good winter field and was won by Murray Johnston with 42 points from Brad Chittick with 40. Third equal were Geoff McKay, Ash Peterson, John Tatham, Alex McLeod and Jeff Ogg, all on 38. The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was John Tatham.

The Monday vets stableford competition saw an excellent field play in beautiful conditions. Results were-

A good field of 9 holers played a putting round last Wednesday. Winner was Rosie Wellbrock with 14 putts and second was Ruth Wiley with 16. The PGG Wrightson Longest Drive was Val Diedrichs and the All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was Susie Williams.

This Saturday the club day for both men and women will be the Captain’s v Chairman’s contest, followed by a club dinner.
