This Saturday has only one interclub team playing on the course so there will be plenty of room for club day players or anyone else that wants to play a round.
Mike has mentioned and welcomed in his report Rob Blackett as our new Board Chairman and Jim Kettle as Vice Chairman. The Board of Management and representatives are as follows:
Rob Blackett (Chairman) Jim Kettle (Vice Chairman), Carl Christensen, Wayne O’Donnell, Roselee Thurston, Tony Rowntree (Men’s Capt.), Pam Griffith (Women’s Capt.), Robin Macklin (Head Greenkeeper), Shaun Hewitt (ATU), Russell Stewart (Sec/Mgr), Lorraine Stewart (Admin).
The Post Haste Saturday members draw is now up to $60. So come on up to the club house and have a quiet drink and be present for the draw.
Members are reminded that no dogs are allowed on the course.
Mike’s report is a little abbreviated this week as he had to have it to the Times Age by Sunday as he is away cycling some trails down south for a week.

Mike’s Report
All the men’s interclub teams were in action on Saturday and the result was three out of three wins with by far the most satisfying being the Div 1 Otaki Cup team’s win 8½-6½ against Manor Park at Shandon. Historically this team has struggled against the ‘big boys’ from Wellington and has left its fate in the results in the promotion relegation series, but this year, after two rounds the team is placed third, but with the bye at home to come. Singles wins were recorded by Dean Gray, Chas Craig, Brent Mackenzie, team captain Simon Dew, Owen Lloyd and Gavin Harris. The next round is next Sunday at Miramar against Shandon.
Meanwhile back at Masterton the two 18 hole teams were competing with Div 3 playing Judgeford and Div 6, Pauatahanui and both teams recorded narrow wins. Div 3 had an 8½-6½ win with the singles winners being Simon Buckley, Jim Kettle, Rob Blackett, Murray Wolland and Jeff Ogg. A feature of this match was that evergreen Murray Wolland shot his age on the way to his win.
Div 6 had to make some last minute changes with sickness and injury impacting on the original team and were relieved to have a close 8-7 victory against Pauatahanui. Singles wins went to Carl Christensen, Mike Dixon, Paul Fouhy, Ash Peterson, John Hopkirk and late replacement and first time representative, Trevor Howard.
The women’s Tilson Salver team had its first round on Sunday but results were unavailable at time of publication.
The TRC Toyota Twilight wrapped up last week with 36 players playing 5 holes with different challenges on each hole, followed by a meal and prize giving.
The four man team of Jocelyn Pollock, Brian Pollock, Brian Crump and Harry Quinn took out the two major prizes, the first being the first team to 500 stableford points, and calculating the best seven round total across the 10 week season.
Individual prizes were awarded to Allan Williams and Jocelyn Pollock for winning the men’s and women’s races to 100 points, and to Allan Williams and Jan Tatham for the best eight round totals across the season. The prize giving also recognised Jan Tatham as scoring the highest single round of the season, being 26 on 14 January. Congratulations to organiser, Harry Quinn, on devising many cunning and fiendishly clever competitions throughout the season.
On Saturday the men in the club field played a Bisque par round and the women a stableford round. Results were-
Men
1st Paul Williams +7
2nd Ray Morris +5
3rd Allan Carroll +3
Women
1st Nooroa Rota 37
The All Teed Up Nearest the Pins on No 8 went to Jamie Brunton and Nooroa Rota and on No 18 to Jamie Brunton.
Last Thursday’s New World Supermarket stableford competition was won by a staggering 50 points by Tim Tatham who apparently played beautiful golf. He won the competition by nine points from Russell Stewart who had a mere 41 points and in third place was Richard Searle and Mike Falloon with 39. The All Teed Up Closest to the Pin was Ewen Macdonald.
On Wednesday the 9 holers played a PGG Wrightson nett competition which was won by Ruth Wiley with 34 nett from Val Diedrichs with 35 and Mary Herrick on 37. The PGG Wrightson Longest Drive was Ronny Percy.
This Saturday the 18 hole teams will both be ‘away’ and a club competition will be held although the diary does not detail one.
