The junior coaching programme is beginning again on Tuesday 17 February at 4pm. The aim of the coaching programme is to provide children and young adults with golfing skills so they are able to take those skills onto the golf course and enjoy the game. With no interclub over the week and Waitangi Day being cold and not very ‘golf friendly’ it has been golf as usual for the various groups that make up the club.
Last Wednesday’s TRC Toyota twilight attracted the biggest turnout of the summer and the blustery wind did not affect the women’s scoring with eight of the eighteen women scoring over 20 points. However, only four of the twenty men could manage that same feat.
Tony and June Roseingrave took out their divisions with 23 and 24 points respectively and June was also closest to the 8th pin for the All Teed Up prize. The Wairarapa Funeral Services Longest Drives went to Chris Lewis in the women’s and to teenager Mitchell Hooper in the men’s.
The Matahiwi Estate Pinot Noir was awarded to Jill Slight who improved on her previous round by eight stableford points.
The leading four-player team captained by Jocelyn Pollock is now just 16 points away from winning the inaugural TRC Toyota ‘Race to 500’ but they’d better be at their best next Wednesday because the 2nd placed team is just 9 points in arrears.
The 9 holers have started their year with a ‘bring a friend’ day which attracted 25 players for a putting competition, which was won by Rosie Welbrock, Jill Slight and Gill Neal, all with 15 putts.
The vets have had two competitions in the past week. Last Wednesday, in a stableford round, the cold wind caused all the women’s field to withdraw but the men completed their round. Results were-

The new World Thursday competition was won by Steve Hemingway with 40 points from Murray Johnston, Bob Hill and Paul Fouhy, all on 39. The All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was Gavin Harris.

This weekend the men’s club day is a Challenge Shield and Chairman’s Trophy round and the women have a stableford round. The club’s AGM will be held on Sunday 15 February at 10.30 in the 19th All members are urged to attend. For those who wish to view the Annual Report, a copy can be collected from the office.
