Over the last fortnight the major event has been the Wairarapa Sports Education Trust Ambrose Tournament which was held two Fridays ago and attracted 26 teams. The winning team was ‘The Putting Gods’ made up of Joel Macklin, Simon Dew, Alec Treseder and Michael Batley who recorded a staggering nett score of 52.38. Their round included lots of birdies and an eagle on No 18. The Trust raised just under $10,000 which will be used to support Wairarapa sportspeople and coaches. The next big tournament is the Hospice Wairarapa Ambrose with the same format as Sports Education Trust Tournament and being held on Friday August 14th. Off The Fairway

The twelve golf tourists are back after a wonderfully fine and warm visit to the Gold Coast where six official rounds were played, although three opted to play Robina Woods on the rest day. Each day a different competition is held and, at ‘The Glades,’ this included counting the number of balls each player lost in the water. All up our twelve players lost 24 balls, ten of them by two people and the average stableford score was 25!
